The center of activity at Green Bay Country Club is its 18-hole golf course, recognized as one of the best in Wisconsin. Opened to the membership in 1995, the Dick Nugent design was created out of a 240-acre tract of extraordinary farmland. In fact, the Kroll family farmhouse once stood in close proximity to where the main clubhouse sits, atop a hillside, offering majestic views of the property.
This vantage point offers a snapshot of the course’s diversity. A ridge that runs through helps create tumbling fairways and downhill shots. Bower Creek, boulder-lined in portions, comes into play on 11 of 18 holes. There are wooded portions featuring maples and oaks and ravines, too. For good measure, the elements – especially at exposed high points on the course – offer an added challenge.
Green Bay’s famed Lambeau Field, some eight miles away, can be seen from the main practice putting green. Green Bay Country Club, located in the village of Bellevue, is less than 10 miles from the mouth of Green Bay and about 25 miles from Lake Michigan. The par 72 offers a mix of teeing options and can play up to 7,097 yards with a WSGA rating of 74.6 and a slope of 143 from the black tees.
